On June 11, the Confucius Institute in Edmonton was invited to participate in the Heritage Day Festival at the Spark Gallery in the city of Sherwood Park.
The event was organized by the Arts & Culture Council of Strathcona County to celebrate Canada’s 150th and discover the diversity of arts & culture through a variety of multicultural activities including dance, singing, symphony, food taste and different cultural displays, etc.
CIE teachers provided displays of Chinese traditional art such as Chinese dough art and Chinese knot in sharing Chinese culture with people from many different ethnic backgrounds. Many people visited the CIE booth and showed their great interest in these traditional Chinese arts.
In addition, the Ottewell Confucius Classroom also organized a half hour performance including Chinese folk dances and folk song.
The CIE will provide ongoing support for the community events to better share Chinese culture with Canadian people.
