Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

On September 22, the Confucius Institute in Edmonton was invited to participate in the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Edmonton Chinatown Multi-Cultural Centre. In spite of the snowy weather, a lot of people came to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival.

This festival event features many different Chinese activities and performances including parade, moon cake, arts and crafts, lion dance, etc. Many people displayed the great interest in the CIE booths displaying Chinese cultural handcrafts, such as Chinese dough art and Chinese knots. Many young people had so much fun playing Chinese Yoyo. Although it was cold outside, people were immersed in the happiness and warmth brought by the variety of Chinese traditional activities.

Mid-autumn festival is a festival for a family union. All family members are gathering together appreciating the bright full moon. Moon cake is the food particularly for this festival.
