Chopsticks are shaped pairs of equal-length sticks that have been used as kitchen and eating utensils in most of East Asia for over three millennia. First used by the Chinese, chopsticks later spread to other East Asian and Southeast Asian countries.
When seated for a meal, it is common custom to allow elders to take up their chopsticks before anyone else.
It is poor etiquette to tap chopsticks on the edge of one's bowl.
One should not ‘dig’ or ‘search’ through food for something in particular with chopsticks, but rather grab what is in front of them.
