Five-animal Play 五禽戏

Five-Animal Play is a set of self-practice exercises based on mimicking the movements and mannerisms of five animals: tiger, deer, bear, monkey, and bird. These exercises help to strengthen muscles, tendons, and joints.

Pay attention to your Hands, Stances, and Balance:
Hands: Tiger’s Paw, Deer’s Antler, Bear’s Paw, Monkey’s Hooked Paw, Bird’s Wing, Solid Fist;
Stances: Bow Stance, Empty Stance, T-Stance;
Balance: Balance with one knee up.

五禽戏是中国传统的导引养生、保健功法之一,通过模仿虎、鹿、熊、猿、鸟五种动物的动作和姿势,达到舒展肢体、活动筋骨的目的。

练习时要注意手型、步行和平衡。
手型:虎爪、鹿角、熊掌、猿钩、鸟翅、握固。
步行;弓步、虚步、丁步。
平衡:提膝平衡、后举腿平衡。

通过持续练习,五禽戏才能起到健身养生的效果。
