On February 6th, Edmonton Confucius Institute was invited to participate in the Chinese New Year celebrations held at Edmonton Expo Center of Northland. During the activity, Chinese visiting teachers and volunteers of Confucius Institute displayed Chinese traditional culture and art forms, including Chinese knots, dough art and calligraphy. Hundreds of visitors came to visit the CIE booth showing great interest in these traditional arts. Many people lined up for getting a calligraphy piece with the lucky word that brings the best wishes for the New Year. Since this year is the Year of the Monkey, dough art monkey made by visiting teachers was popular with adults and children. Many people also visited and took a Chinese knot which symbolized happy and auspicious.
