On June 26th, the Confucius Institute in Edmonton was invited by the Canadian Multicultural Education Foundation to provide one day of activities at Churchill Square to celebrate Canadian Multiculturalism Day.
Confucius Institute provided the workshops of Chinese dough art, Chinese knots and Chinese calligraphy and also offered a variety of Chinese traditional games like Chinese checker, Chinese chess, and chopstick games. A lot of people showed the interests of these workshops and games. Many of them tried playing these games and making some dough figures and knots.
Confucius Institute made the contribution to the diversity of cultures in the community by sharing Chinese traditional cultures.
The similar event was also held at the city hall of Fort Saskatchewan. Confucius Institute was invited by the Multicultural Association of Fort Saskatchewan on June 25. In addition to the display of Chinese traditional art crafts, the Confucius Institute provided 20 minutes of performances including 3 Chinese dances and Tai Chi that were well received by all the audience. The mayor of Fort Saskatchewan met all the teachers from CIE.
