CIE Dance Group Performed at Edmonton Oil Kings Hockey Night

On January 19, the Edmonton Oil Kings hosted local Mandarin Schools for an exciting hockey night at Rogers Place. The Confucius Institute in Edmonton’s Chinese Dance Group was invited to perform a Chinese dance during the intermission.

Principals of the Edmonton Mandarin Bilingual Schools dropped the first puck for the game between the Oil Kings and Victoria Royals. During the first intermission, students from the Kildare School performed Lion Dance and Chinese Dance. The CIE Dance Group, majority of the dancers are principals and teachers from the Edmonton Public Schools, performed a Chinese folk dance “Dream Chaser” during the second intermission.

The event was very successful. All the participants had a great time enjoying the wonderful hockey game and experiencing Chinese culture.
