The CIE attended the Alberta Chinese Consortium meeting at Red Deer Public School Board on March 8. This meeting was also attended by representatives from Red Deer Public School Board, University of Calgary, Concordia University of Edmonton, Edmonton Public Schools, Walter and Gladys School and Confucius Institute in Edmonton.
At the meeting, the new website of Alberta Chinese Consortium with the newly designed logo was reviewed and had positive feedback. The purpose of this website is to provide the platform for all the members to share their information and resources for Chinese language learning and promotion. The development of this website was sponsored by the Confucius Institute.
The Alberta Chinese Consortium later presented an award to Angela Tang. Ms. Tang was the winner of the provincial contest to design a logo for the Consortium. Mr. Norman Sieweke and Dr. Wei Li presented the award and prize on behalf of the Consortium. Angela Tang is a grade 5 student at Meyonohk School of Edmonton Public Schools. Mrs. Karen Paterson who is the principal also received the gift from the Consortium for the school.
