Dr. Wei Li was invited to give a presentation on the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program at the National Bilingual Education Conference held in Las Vegas, USA in early March. The conference was organized by the national Association of Bilingual Education and was attended by more than 2000 delegates.
Dr. Li’s presentation provided an overview of the more than 30 years of history of the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program, its organization within Edmonton Public Schools, curriculum as well as both the success and challenges.
The audience showed a great deal of interest in the model and were most impressed with the achievement of students in terms of both language and culture acquisition, as well as the successful parent – school division partnership.
