ASSIST is a non-profit organization in Edmonton for new immigrants. At the request of ASSIST, the CIE has offered Chinese culture workshops and sessions for several years. On October 15, Kathy Guo, a teacher based in the CIE, delivered the first session to more than 20 seniors at an ASSIST location. All the seniors enjoyed lessons in Chinese traditional art, especially Chinese Dough Art.
During the 90 minute session, the students learned how to make a parrot and they were amazed that with a few simple steps they cold create a model of this beautiful bird.
