On March 7, the Confucius Institute in Edmonton was invited to attend the Chinese New Year Celebration at Bellerose Composite High School of St. Albert Public School Board. This was the first time that the CIE was asked to provide the support to the event at St. Albert school.
Five CIE teachers brought a variety of Chinese traditional cultural performances and workshops to students and teachers, including Tai Chi, Chinese handkerchief dance, dough art, Chinese knots and calligraphy. Many students and teachers were amazed and keen to learn and experience these traditional arts. It was a great experience for them.
Mr. Max Chorney, the acting principal of of Bellerose Composite High School, expressed his thanks and appreciation to all CIE teachers for providing such good learning experience for their students. The school prepared a lunch and gifts for all CIE teachers. They hoped to receive ongoing support from the CIE to better promote Chinese culture and arts.
