The Confucius Institute in Edmonton participated in the Chinese New Year celebration organized by the Edmonton Chinatown Multicultural Center at the West Edmonton Mall on January 30 and 31. This was one of the biggest events for Chinese New Year celebration in the city of Edmonton.
During the two days of celebration, CIE set up a booth to demonstrate traditional arts, such as Chinese Dough Art and Chinese Knots. The demonstrations attracted a lot of people.
The CIE Yangqin Team performed 2 shows on Saturday. The beautiful traditional music was well received by the audience. The performers included the music students from the CIE Yangqin Class and some of the CIE visiting teachers.
On Sunday, the Meyonohk School dance group performed the Little Lion Dance, Drum Dance , Yi Dance and a Tibetan Dance on behalf of the Meyonohk Confucius Classroom.
