The Confucius Institute in Edmonton hosted a group of 31 students and 2 teachers from Edith Rogers School and Malcolm Tweddle School on June 6. The purpose of their trip was to experience Chinese Culture.
After a brief introduction to the CIE by Dr. Wei Li, the director of the CIE, the second language consultants Angela Hernandez and Tamie Beattie from the Institute for Innovation in Second Language Education also met the students and encouraged them to learn a second language, which is important for their future. Then the students were divided in two groups taking part in the activities in different stations in turns. The teachers prepared some Chinese cultural activities for the students, such as Chinese dough art, ping pong and Chinese yoyo. All the students were excited and keen trying learning all these activities.
Many students expressed that these Chinese culture activities were amazing and they really enjoyed. It was a great Chinese culture day for all the students and teachers.
