CIE Hosts the Photo and Book Exhibition Opening Ceremony for the 70th Anniversary of the End of World War II and Dr. Norman Bethune

91c0c5a9-2927-45a0-b451-27115b0c9a5fOn June 8, the Confucius Institute in Edmonton hosted the opening ceremony for the photo and book exhibition commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the end of the second World War and the memory of Dr. Norman Bethune. The intent of this exhibition is to help people remember an important part of our history and also remember the relation between Canada and China built by Canadian, Dr. Norman Bethune.

The ceremony was attended by more than 70 local scholars, professors, community leaders, as well as students and teachers. Deputy Consul General Wang Lei from the Chinese Consulate in Calgary also attended the ceremony and made a speech.  Among the other speakers were Dr. Brian Evens, former vice president of University of Alberta and one of the first Canadian diplomats sent to China; Dr. Gordon Houlden, the director of China Institute of University of Alberta; Mr. Cam Fahlman, vice president of ALPHA Edmonton and Mr. Stuart Wachowicz, Chair of CIE Board of Directors and Advisory Board.
