On September 18, the Confucius Institute hosted a visit from the delegation with 30 people from 26 different universities in China. These people are attending a special training program in the University of Alberta. During the visit, the group toured the office, library, teachers’ office and other facilities, and attended a session presented by director Wei Li to learn about the operations of the CIE, the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program and the Alberta’s education system. CIE and Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program left the delegates good impression.
After lunch, the delegation paid a visit to one of Chinese bilingual elementary schools, Meyonohk School. They visited classrooms and toured the school. And also they spoke with the principal Mrs. Patterson and Chinese teachers. They were impressed by the Chinese language abilities the students acquired in the program.
