The Confucius Institute in Edmonton worked with three other Confucius Institutes to organize a performance entitled ‘Golden Autumn Gala’. The other three Confucius institutes were the Confucius Institute of the University of Saskatchewan, the Confucius Institute of New Brunswick and the Confucius Institute of Beijing Opera located at Binghamton University.
The performance celebrated the opening of the 3rd International Chinese Language Conference of North America Confucius Institutes and Classrooms and also the Second Global Confucius Institute Day.
The gala was held at Eva O Howard Theatre on October 17th. Hon. Thomas Deng, Vice Chair of Edmonton Public School Board, Michelle Draper and Trustees Nathan Ip and Bridget Stirling attended the performance along with more than 700 people.
The gala included a variety of performances such as dancing, instrumental pieces, singing, comedy cross-talk and Beijing Opera. It drew a warm response from the audience.
