Although the weather in Edmonton was very cold with a lot of snow, the new visiting teachers from China to the CIE indicated that they experienced a warm welcome. During the last two weeks, the CIE has welcomed 8 new visiting teachers from China. They were welcomed by the CIE staff and teachers as well as the receiving school principals. They are sponsored by Hanban for the purpose of providing support to nine Confucius Classrooms in the region.
Last Year, one Confucius Classroom had the opportunity to have a visiting teacher for the first time. The feedback from the school administrators, students and parents was very positive. This year, 8 more Confucius Classrooms requested to have a visiting teacher at their school. At this moment, the CIE has the total of 16 visiting teachers from China and most of them will work in schools to provide the support for the teaching of Chinese language and culture programs.
