Recognition of the 66th Anniversary of the Establishment of Modern China

On October 1, Edmonton Chinese Community organized a banquet to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, an event that commenced the most recent period in 5000 years of Chinese history. The event took place at the Century Palace Restaurant. More than 300 people attended the banquet. The organizers also extended an invitation to the CIE to attend.

The Honourable Brian Mason, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Infrastructure, Honorable MP Laurie Hawn and the Mayor of Edmonton Don Iveson attended the banquet and also brought the greetings. Consul General Wang Xinping of Chinese Consulate in Calgary was also invited to the banquet.

One week earlier, CIE was also invited to attend the reception in Calgary by Chinese Consulate in Calgary to celebrate the 66th National Day.
