On June 15 evening, the Confucius Institute in Edmonton and the Alberta Chinese Language Association jointly hosted a retirement and appreciation party. Around 80 principals and teachers attended the event, including the Chinese teachers, principals, former retirees and family members.
Dr. Wei Li, the director of CIE, and Dr. Mianmian Xie, the president of ACLTA, made the welcome greetings and congratulated the retirements of 2 principals, 2 assistant principals and 3 Chinese teachers after serving the Chinese bilingual program for many years. All their contributions and dedications to the Chinese program have been much appreciated.
During the party, a wonderful performance was welcomed by the attendees, such as Chinese dance, Guzheng, and Erhu. The attended teachers were also singing the Chinese song named “Farewell to Old Friends”, which greatly inspired everyone.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wei Li, on behalf of CIE, also took this opportunity to express the appreciation to all the teachers who helped out the 10th Alberta Chinese Bridge Competition for School Students on May 27.
