On September 20, a group of 10 musicians from Shanghai Conservatory of Music brought a musical performance to Edmonton. Over 600 Chinese folk music lovers enjoyed the folk ensemble performing on traditional Chinese instruments at Eva O’ Howard Theatre in Victoria high school.
The musicians performed many classic Chinese folk songs that included Three Variations of the Plum Blossom, Yanguan Sandie and A Li Li. During the end of the concert, with cheers and applause, they played an encore of Full of Joy.
The music tour in Canada/USA (2019) was organized by Arts of the Dragon and Shanghai Conservatory of Music. As one of the co-organizers, the CIE director, Cameron Mah brought greetings to the evening. The event gave the CIE an opportunity to highlight the beauty of Chinese folk music to the city of Edmonton.
