Dr. Wei Li, the director of the Confucius Institute in Edmonton, was invited to attend the 1st Georgia Chinese Dual Immersion Teacher Workshop on September 16. This workshop was organized by Confucius Institute at Kennesaw State University.
At the workshop, Dr. Li gave a presentation on Edmonton Chinese bilingual program, covering its development, achievements and challenges. All the attendees were impressed by the Chinese bilingual program in Edmonton and the achievements in language proficiency the students have displayed.
Dr. Greg Barfield, the dual language immersion program specialist, also delivered a presentation “Best Practices for Dual Language Immersion Classrooms: Perspectives on Instruction and Assessment”. About 30 Chinese teachers from different schools in Atlanta and Confucius Institute at Kennesaw State University introduced the Chinese immersion programs in Georgia.
The workshop was very successful. All the attendees had good discussions around Chinese bilingual program, and shared their best teaching practices and experience, as well as their reflections.
