The CIE and the Edmonton Chinese Journal organized the 6th Alberta Chinese Writing Contest again this year. The purpose of this contest is to encourage more students and Chinese language learners to improve the use of written Chinese language skills. There are 5 categories in this contest encompassing students at elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, universities and adults in the community.
On November 21, the award ceremony was held at the CIE. Consul General Wang from Chinese Consulate in Calgary, MLA David Xiao and Assistant Superintendent Diana Bolan attended the ceremony and also made speeches congratulating all the participants. More than 200 students, parents, teachers and principals attended the ceremony. The Junior high school students contributed a Chinese dance for the event.
