The First Edmonton Oriental Culture Festival was held on April 9. The festival was organized by the Oriental Cultural Community Service Centre and the Confucius Institute in Edmonton, including an oriental gala and a series of Chinese movie shows.
Around 400 people watched the wonderful gala at the John L. Haar Theatre. The gala included a variety of performances such as dancing, music instrument, singing, martial arts, drama, Beijing opera, Qi Pao show and comedy cross-talk. Indian dancers and a dance group from Poland performed their folk dances. The CIE teacher Du Jinjin also performed a Chinese dance, and four CIE teachers delivered their best wished to the audience.
The performance drew a warm response from the audience. They all hope that the series of Chinese movie shows will be a great success.
