On April 20th, the Confucius Institute hosted a visit from the delegation with 35 people from more than 20 different universities in China. These people are attending a three-month special training program in the University of Alberta. During the visit, the group toured the office, library, teachers’ office and other facilities and attended a session presented by Dr. Wei Li on the operations of CIE, the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program and the Alberta’s education system. A good discussion followed the presentations. All the delegates were impressed with the CIE’s work and achievements in the past eight years.
After lunch, the delegation paid a visit to Meyonohk School which is one of the six Chinese bilingual schools in Edmonton Public Schools. The delegates had the opportunity to visit the classrooms observing the students learning Chinese and talked to some students and teachers.
The visit was short but the delegates learned a lot about Confucius Institute in Edmonton and the Chinese bilingual program.
