On April 19th, the Confucius Institute hosted a visit from the delegation with 46 people from different universities in China who are attending a three-month special training program in the University of Alberta. During the visit, the group toured the office, library, teachers’ office and other facilities. They also attended a presentation by Dr. Wei Li on the operations and development of CIE, the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program and the Alberta’s education system. The delegates also had the opportunity to meet with some Chinese visiting teachers of CIE.
After lunch, the delegation paid a visit to Meadowlark School which is one of the six Chinese bilingual elementary schools in Edmonton Public Schools. The assistant principal Jei Yin welcomed the delegates and provided an introduction about the school as well as their passions for the Chinese bilingual program. The delegates also had the opportunity to visit 11 classrooms observing the students learning Chinese and talked to some students and teachers. A good discussion followed the interactions in classrooms.
The visit was short but the delegates learned a lot about Confucius Institute in Edmonton and the Chinese bilingual program. They all are impressed about the achievements of the Confucius Institute in Edmonton and Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Program.
