CIE hosted a monthly meeting on April 28. One of the agendas for the meeting was to provide a special training for CIE visiting teachers on YCT/HSK test administration. After reviewing the regulations and rules, 15 teachers wrote the test online and all passed.
Since 2015, Hanban has requested that the teachers who supervise YCT/HSK tests need to have the certification for administrating the test. Edmonton has a large Chinese language program and every year more than 1300 students write the YCT or HSK tests and the test administration has become a challenge. Therefore, The CIE provides the special training for Chinese teachers annually to ensure they will be certified according to Hanban’s specification.
During the one day meeting, CIE staff and teachers had a pot luck lunch and everyone brought the delicious home-made dishes, including chicken, shrimp, Chinese salad, red bean soup, spring rolls, ribs, etc. All the staff really enjoyed the food but most importantly this helped build the strong relationship and friendship among all the teachers and staff.
