Cultural Celebrations on Weekend

On September 23, 2023, the CIE participated in a series of cultural events, including “Thrive Carnival” Multicultural Event at Central Lions Rec Centre, Mid-autumn Festival at Griesbach, the Grand Opening Ceremony of Nine Dragon Wall at the Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, and “Sound of Greenland” Concert at West End Christian Reformed Church.

The CIE teachers brought paper cutting and Chinese knots to the Thrive Carnival event, sharing the traditional Chinese arts with around 300 kids. The other group of CIE teachers took part in the Mid-autumn Festival, celebrating traditional Chinese culture with Edmontonians. Their paper-cutting Dragons and Chinese knots added happiness and good wishes to the festival. On the same day, the CIE witnessed a milestone moment in Chinese community: Nine Dragon Wall opening in Chinese Garden. The Nine Dragon Wall is the largest dragon wall in North America. The CIE also sponsored the “Sound of Greenland” Concert performed on September 23 night, help promote Chinese music and culture.
