The CIE was invited to meet Chinese Ambassador to Canada Zhang and Consul General Liu with many other leaders from community association and groups. At the meeting, Ambassador Zhang delivered a speech on the recent development of China and also answered some questions raised by the community leaders. CIE provided a very brief introduction on its programs and agreed on future discussion as to how its role can be increasingly effective, in developing educational, cultural and economic opportunities between the Edmonton area and China, while growing Chinese language education in the region.
